Why does my account net worth go down when I place a trade?

The price of the stock doesn't go against me, I'm placing the trade at the current price and the net change on that position is zero. If it's zero, why does my account equity go down?

All trades take a 1% commission. And, typically, you trade price will have changed a few cents from the list price, to your disadvantage edzep Apr 27, 09:37
