There are no guarantees but these are lot of my strategies. I don't recommend them all for beginners but if you have figured out the types of purchases you can make, stocks, bonds, options and understand the basics of trading & shorting and have made 10 or 20m. Then some of these might make sense.
How to go from 2m to 100m from January - April:
Day trade. I never get too attached to a stock. When it goes opposite from where I want it, I dump it. If it feels like freefall, I flip it.
News trade. I always trade on news on a stock. I evaluate the news and keep an eye on the stock to see when people begin profit taking.
Play openers. I played most every opener. The least amount I invested was 10,000 shares. Most of the time I go a full 50k unless I am a tad unsure.
Play derivatives. Easy money to be made there. If you can watch them, you may buy both call & put as many times you can make money off the initial buy. Once people get an idea of where they want to go, one or the other changes directions. If traders are indecisive, you can see a lotta wiggling.
I tend to play openers the Sunday before, playing the prevailing direction. When traders start waffling, I usually drop it to pick it up on Thursday or at latest Friday. I try to never let my personal opinion factor in until Thursday.
I tend to play influential posts: when notfabio posts tracking, pay attention. Many traders do. Some posts carry more weight than others. My posts are generally news of different weight and caliber. I don't throw too much opinion around I don't think but others do and it carries weight.
I usually play Saturday ipos: When they are of a certain value or are a franchise pic, they can be lucrative.
Play any option if you understand how they work, as they are easy money usually.
I play high adjusting star bonds. You can use the crib sites like HSJ and PG to buy the profitable ones the day before adjust. Remember it is a quick turnaround so your droi should be hours not days. You can also do the research on Sunday for commission free buys. At first,I did quick buys. As I got more cash, I would buy a little further out.
I am never afraid to jump trains. If one stock has slowed down and I see one speeding by, I switch!
Reset trading can be lucrative. But, if the movers aren't inspired by news, their reversal could be imminent.
During commish free, I sell any shorts and take my profits! Remember you can reshort and when you do, it even costs less.
I play delisters! On Sunday, when estimates come out, I review the films delisting as they could be arb or bra. Remember they delist the next day so your money is tied up for a little over a day.
I play the Saturday numbers, too. When estimates are posted, stocks that have opened tend to react.
I play bonds on openers! When "21" surprised, most of the bonds attached were nicely undervalued. Lots of profit there. I bought those bonds Friday night. Likewise when films tank, check the bonds out.
I play the joujou "fund openers" posts. He is helpful enough to point out the anticipated fund movement. Before 1pm Sunday, anything over 1% or so should represent profit.
Timing. Timing is everything. I probably play 2 to three hours as most of the time if I am near a pc, I can check in and see what is up. I pop in usually in the late morning. Then a few times in the afternoon. Check in at 11pm and then reset. Reset would usually be when I spend the most time looking at stocks and reviewing bonds and whatnot. But when you miss major news like the first time GDELT was named to HOBIT, don't be afraid to go ahead and make a move anyway as major developments like that can be valuable. Profit is profit as long as it is greater than 2% most of the time.
Most of my gains come from news then openers then reset. There are a few tools out there that are helpful like Scorpion's. You can come over to the MIRC on the efnet and watch the ticker there. That is always helpful.
And I always think I must be lucky. Has to be some luck involved. I think it is luck, but it could be a little instinct, too. ;-)
