BONDS is a port that ranges from 20M to delist at 100M...Yes, BONDS employs reshorts from time to time based on these criteria:
1) I want a security where my short gain is at least 100K. When you reshort, you free up two times the gain in cash. Thus, a 119 K gaine translates to about 238 K in cash
2) I want the %age gain to be at least 10 Pct. While "Price paid doesn't matter" I still like to not spend too much of the gain on commission. Thus reshorting when there was 12% gain feels better than reshorting only a 6Pct gain.
3) You would hope that the new securities you invest in will show a profit of more than 3 Pct. Don't reshort to free up cash to invest in a marginal profit.
4) In the case of StarBonds, I try not to reshort if there is an adjust in the near future. If you are reshorting try to make sure that shorting again is a good investment (as opposed to simply covering) since you would hope that there is more than 3 Pct mofe of gains to come.
