I use a similar strategy
I generally have 3 criteria for reshorting: 1) at least H$100K gain, like Mr. Binns. 2) the movie is already in release, so I have a very good idea of what the ultimate BO is. 3) I need the money for a better investment, like a Wednesday with lots of options that I want to buy.
I invest in lots of marginal stocks. So I have a fair number that, for example, IPO at H$2 for a release in a month and star actors that few people have heard of. That's going to be a very limited release, so it's probably going to delist at a few cents. That's a a good candidate for a reshort.
