Penny stock project update
Disclaimer: This is just for amusement. It's not a serious way to grow a port. But, since I have a huge and growing port, I can do this as a subset of that port.
For the past few years, I have been buying every stock priced at 10 cents or less, that is not yet in release. Most will eventually come to nothing, as dead delists, or minimal limited releases. The idea is to ensure that I have some large gainers that overwhelmingly make up for the losers.
And, I choose to hang onto the big % gainers until at least their opening; I want to cheerfully boast about having gained 155,000% on some stock or another. Not trading them means not maximizing my gains. But, I do minimize losses: when they head downward after a runup, I buy a short position in addition to the long position.
I use Port Monkey to tag my best % gainers, so I don't accidentally trade them away. Occasionally, I slip, and lose one to an absentminded trade. Then I'm sad, as if I've lost a little pet.
I own 473 movie stocks purchased this way -- about 31% of all movie shares available on HSX. My total investment in them: under H$2.5 million.
