You have to remember that stocks of movies that are opening soon always have a lot of movement up OR down the week of opening...
Remembe that prices are market driven, and sometimes these stocks also get "daytraded" where some players "play" the players here.
You have to go with your "gut" sometimes and decide "will this movie do well at the box office?" "Will it NOT do well?" What is the "buzz" on the movie? Stars? There are many factors that determine if a movie will do well sometimes...other times maybe the story just grabs people and they want to see it, even though critics and others think a movie is terrible.
IF you really feel a movie will do well, and adjust up from it's stock price, then hang on to it, and see what happens when it opens. IF you think it won't make the price, then you can always sell it off, or short it and make money when it doesn't do well.
Don't forget to factor in commissions when you buy, sell, or short an opener. Sometimes, I've changed my mind on an opener, and sold it off, and shorted it cause I didn't think it would make it's adjust price. Sometimes I've been wrong in doing that..other times I've been right.
After all these years of playing, I'm still only about 50/50 or 60/40 in picking an opener correctly... but it's still one of the most fun aspects of playing the game for me.
Just remember to repeat this often: "It's only play money, it's only play money!"
