How many theaters are there in the domestic market and how many total screens?
Not sure if this is the right board for this question as it's more just my own curiosity, but I'm thinking about avengers 2's opening.
The second and fourth weekends in April have basically nothing, and even the third weekend's releases aren't going to be huge, so going into the avengers there won't be much competition for screens, at the very least less competition than the first avengers had. And going into the first one everyone was thinking more like a 150 opening so the theaters at the margin had much less incentive to pick it up.
The widest release is 4468 theaters and I'm curious how much wider AOU will be. Also has the number of screens ever been a thing? Is it recorded anywhere how many screens avengers played on its opening weekend?
