Thanks srrichardson as the previous mananager. I have something to add.

@aleksthegreat.  I will keep you suggestion of UBIK under advisement.

A lot of good points were brought out by all of you.  But as a new fund manager I would like to share my experiences thus far.  First, I have found it very humbling and a does of reality going from a huge portfolio backwards to managing a fund with a small cash balance and having to relearn some old tricks to make money from the past.  Also, for those that do not know how things go as far as "the rules", all Fund Managers do have a set of rules, limits, restrictions. As a fund manager you must sign and agree to these rules and restrictions prior to being given the opportunity to even be a fund manager.  If you fail to comply with these rules and restrictions you and your fund are subject to fines or the fund being taken away from you.  Also, as Universal 100 Fund stated that causes much limit on what we can and cannot do and what we can and cannot invest in.  Example, although Avengers is technically a SciFi theme, I cannot invest in it or the related Starbonds as it is Comic Book based.  Me investing in those types of films would infringe on the COMIC Fund.  Thus a restriction of which I am bound.

Another issue which vastly differs from running your own personal portfolio is, you are running the fund primarily to make money for your investors...not for yourself.  Your fund cannot invest in your own fund thus the fund cannot make itself money in this nature.  Your primary focus therefore is making money for your investors, not for yourself.

I asked and was selected to be the new fund manager for SCIFI which was previous ran by srrichardson.  The fund was a long lasting fund that he gave up almost 2 years ago to run a different fund.  Believe me, I have a new insight and appreciation for fund managers.  It is a lot harder than many people think it is.  And it is an opportunity and I feel an honor to be selected and it comes with very little gratification or understanding as to how difficult and how much time fund managers put into running the funds of which they manage.  And I think any Fund Manager will back me when I say, it is not all bright lights or glamor for sure!  These funds are a tough job and we all work hard to make our investors money.

@horrorfanatic, last point is for you.  Everyone is different and has different amounts of time they can give to HSX each day.  Being retired now I have a little more time and effort I can put into HSX than I did a few years ago.  But, if you have the time available and you are into Horror films and would like to see the Horror Fund come back, then I think you should think about it.  It was a good fund and saddly it is no longer represented by a Fund Manager.  I too would love to see it back in action, but I can only do one fund and I made my choice.

For SciFi fund... aleksthegreat Mar 20, 10:06

can you elaborate on the only using 10-20% of the stocks part please...This is interesting insight...Thnx! {nm} aleksthegreat Mar 20, 13:29

It's down to the criteria of the fund... srrichardson Mar 20, 13:43

Good post. Running a studio fund is much more challenging than I expected due to the limited number of options... Universal 100 Fund Mar 20, 13:39

THIS is why i wont take on the task of restarting the horror fund. it requires someone who knows what their doing {nm} horrorfanatic Mar 20, 14:48

But you learn by doing - I lost 2m in my first week! {nm} srrichardson Mar 20, 16:42

Thanks srrichardson as the previous mananager. I have something to add. SCIFund Mar 20, 17:49

Fund managers are HEROs in my book :) {nm} Chateau_du_Mal_Voisin Mar 20, 19:13

It's not all doom and gloom though :-) srrichardson Mar 20, 22:57

It is tough to get to get started though. I've been told (and am experiencing) that very long wait times can happen when a Fund is proposed. Willroast Mar 21, 00:41

You might not get a response if Antibody doesn't like your idea srrichardson Mar 21, 01:07

Thanks for the input. I've had an idea shot down before for gimicky reasons but I think my recent one doesn't fall into that area... Willroast Mar 21, 01:24

( when I say "gimmicky reasons" I mean that my idea may have been gimmicky, not the reasons for it being shot down. Willroast Mar 21, 01:27

I heard back on OPENRFUND within a month or two. Not really that long a wait {nm} Steved1998 Mar 21, 07:21

That is true, It is certainly not gloom and doom either. I enjoy it very much. {nm} EarlyRetirement Mar 21, 05:24

I think I would be a disciplined+shrewd Fund Manager+when the time comes I will make a Proposal I have in mind 2 the almighty AnitBody! {nm} aleksthegreat Mar 21, 09:15

Question. How much are you given to manage the Fund? It's separate from your own PORT $$$ account? {nm} aleksthegreat Mar 21, 17:19

It's a separate account - you start with H$20M srrichardson Mar 22, 00:59

Thanks - So all fund start @ $20 dollars... {nm} aleksthegreat Mar 22, 09:02

Studio funds start at 10M but run for a year, regular funds start at 20M and delist at 100m - no time limit {nm} srrichardson Mar 22, 09:47
