Following news is so frustrating! Best way to do it?

Today's movers has the 5th straight gainer off of news that I resisted buying. I stopped buying based on news bc it never did anything for me in the past. I would see what looked like really big news, buy a stock, and nothing would happen. Now I see rather minor news that hardly means the movie will make money and huge gains.

what's the trick. Is it the sources? Make sure it's from a place everyone is going to see?
