After two months, I havent done bad, but I still dont get some things.

Shares Held Long on HSX: 8,509,915
Shares Held Short on HSX: 1,001
Trading Volume on HSX (Today): 2,170,044

If the trading volume is 2,170,044 today how in the world did it tank with only 1,001 shorting?  Was it because a ton of people decided to sell today?
