one prominent industry source offers a forecast of roughly $8 million for a movie opening today, while another, similarly prominent, industry source offers a range of $12-$15 million for the same title.

If ostensible industry professionals see a revenue range of nearly double, this begins to resemble magic and superstition (or perhaps puffery) more than science and reason.
