Covering a trade using a limit

Howdy HSXers!

I've shorted a movie. I bought at $53 and now it's at $49. I want to place a stop loss at $50 so does the market work opposite from a normal unshorted stocks or if I put $50 into the limit because it's lower that that currently it will cover straight away?
