With due respect, my problem with that advice is
that a small port can't survive even one bad pick of a big ticket opener. Ya ya, IF you always pick the right ones your port can grow fast. It can also die fast. It doesn't matter that you can reset again, it can still be demoralizing enough to watch your net worth get wiped out so easily that one stops playing.
The basic advice for real investing applies to a large degree here too. Diversify and don't put more into a risky investment than you can afford to lose. Small ports can't afford to lose very much.
