the trick is to get the decision right :) Or when the big tentpole movies start coming out and they have massive ow expectations, you can even make money holding both the call and the put, since the variation from the estimates can be so great.
It is indeed harder to make money from lower-priced movies' calls and puts.
I used to buy both, sell most off in equal quantities to cover the whole original investment when they were a bit above $2 (this doesn't work if the market has a strong opinion one way or the other), keep a bit of each at zero risk and see what happened.
