Well...I'll tell you...
I've been playing for 10+ years, and I did post on Movies for a long time. Discussions then had 'everything' on Movies - sports talk, commentaries, misc. stuff, etc. Because of that HSX decided to create a "Misc" board that could contain "idle" chat about anything, and 'save' the Movies Board for talk about Movies. When that happened, alot of the vets moved over to the Misc. Board so they could continue to talk about whatever - myself included, since many of us had played for so long, we didn't talk about movies quite as much...
So many of us stayed on Misc. Board to talk about whatever. Over time, I also found that it was enjoyable to me to help newer players on the Players Board with basic questions they had - along with other long term players such as Ultimate Frisbee, Mohave Mom, Bad, and many others who also answered questions.
Since most of us have been around so long, and we know the 'flow' of HSX, I just found I didn't need to frequent Movies quite as much. I do 'lurk' there sometimes, but don't post as often as I do on Players.
When HSX moved to this new version, the Misc. Board is gone, so I find myself hanging out (when I'm here) on Players more, and sometimes I'll answer questions on the Feedback Board too...
Movies is nice for news, etc., on movies coming out, tips, etc...but with a port my size, I find I don't do much daytrading, etc...so I play enough to keep me interested, but I don't make lots of trades each week.
It's more enjoyable for me to pass along a few tips here and there to newer players, and perhaps give them a leg up if I can.
That may be a longer answer than you were looking for, but thanks for noticing my absence there. :-)
