Movies

Yes, but those years also didn't have the exodus of young males from the cinemas like the past year.

You do put forward some good arguments to support the case of Arthur Christmas being a surprise package, but I can't see it breaking out in the way that you suggest simply because not as many people are going to the movies this year as before. Granted, I've never been in the US on Thanksgiving weekend, so I can't really speak from experience about the movie-going experience there, so you do have an advantage over me in that department.

OW Gutcheck Time ! 3 shorts. And yes I know it's for 5 days ( 2 multiplier ). JMT-NL Nov 23, 03:20

Shortcese, Shorthur Christmas, and long-faced Muppets (or was that just a horse?) {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Nov 23, 03:41

I did the same. {nm} perply1 Nov 23, 07:12

One thing I have learned from here... Never underestimate Disney movies, especially on Thanksgiving. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Nov 23, 03:45

"Never get involved with Disney in a land war in Asia." second vizzini Nov 23, 06:26

Short everything!. Might be wrong on the green sock, but it cant be by much. {nm} idrom Nov 23, 03:50

Agree with a_4_J. Tracking is better than Arthur XMAS...but Arthur Xmas is a charming story and Muppets does not deliver. {nm} Latinman4747 Nov 23, 03:51

So you are saying 100% of the critics who have The Muppets at 100% fresh at rotten tomatoes are 100% wrong? Umm.... {nm} islander Nov 23, 05:32

Could Muppets be a Chipmunks all over again? Multiple generations raised on them and a chance to intro to the new generation?? {nm} skamanfu Nov 23, 09:04

My feeling is they should've gone CGI. Then the puppets would have had more 'room to move' , Who wants to see puppet/marionet show in 2011? {nm} JMT-NL Nov 23, 09:15

wow. there is so much wrong with that statement! {nm} islander Nov 23, 09:18

I'll go even further; Sticking to the handpuppets is a big disrespect from the studio for the strength of the characters JMT-NL Nov 23, 09:33

That puts in you the George Lucas camp... I'm not in that camp. Let the Muppet be Muppets :) {nm} dioneta Nov 23, 09:36

Conversely, going CGI would be an even BIGGER disrespect to the creators and puppeteers who essentially ARE the Muppets. {nm} Paul2k Nov 23, 09:50

Good point. And one the marketing department could have picked up on more... or... JMT-NL Nov 23, 10:09

and why not at least Justin Bieber in this ??? JMT-NL Nov 23, 10:36

You CGI the Muppets and there will be riots in the streets leading to the end of civilization as we know it. {nm} mrbeankc Nov 23, 09:20

Muppets long and Hugo Short... not sure about ARTHC... really though shorting a holiday family film over Thanksgiving TheWeekendWarrior Nov 23, 04:37

How many movies that were direct competition did Christmas with the Kranks have to face on its opening? accountant_4_Jesus Nov 23, 04:45

However movies were open at the time. TheWeekendWarrior Nov 23, 05:00

"however many movies"... :) {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Nov 23, 05:01

Yes, but those years also didn't have the exodus of young males from the cinemas like the past year. accountant_4_Jesus Nov 23, 05:08

Looking at Box Office Mojo, it seems that it did have some pretty heavy direct competition, though. There were no family movies opening that Ruthian23 Nov 23, 06:18

2 shorts, do not play the muppetpuppets {nm} pongena2 Nov 23, 08:53

Thinking Long MUPET and short other two... {nm} eyescovered Nov 23, 08:59

Short Hugo and Arthur. Muppet may be on its number now but I went long from the get go... {nm} dioneta Nov 23, 09:07
