Note that it was in slightly more than 2x the theaters this weekend vs last, but is projected to pull in only 3% more Fri-Sun.
Also, my limited memory of spanish-speaking-audience features (especially those put out by Lionsgate) shows them tending to not hold too well after the first week or two.
2013 Filly Brown opened to 1.5 mil in 188 theaters, then fell more than 60% each weekend before delisting at 2.8.
2012 Girl in Progress opened to 1.4 mil in 322, had drops over 60% for several weeks, then delisted at 2.6 mil.
2012 Casa de mi Padre (with Will Ferrell) opened to 2.3 mil in 382, had a slight expansion to 475 but dropped to 1.2 mil, then saw drops around 50% before delisting at 5.9 mil.
2011 had From Prada to Nada; Saving Private Perez; and No Eres Tu, Soy Yo from Lionsgate and A Better Life from Summit.
The problem is that none of these had an expansion that breached 650, or HSX wide; and none of them had the same bust-out that ININC did, so it's difficult to draw a direct comparison.
You can look at Y Tu Mama Tambien from Cuaron, Pan's Labyrinth from del Toro, and Biutiful or Amores Perros from Inarritu, but those had different types of releases and, I'd argue, different audience appeal.
