Some old school HSX rank based data

Posted by: KaiGee on Feb 18, 16:51

I have data back to Nov 26, 2002, that's over 11 years ago.

On that day, three were only 4 accounts over 2 billion and only 4177 over 100 million.

#1 passed 4 billion in November 2003.

#1 passed 7 billion in December 2005.

#1 passed 10 billion in October 2007.

#1 (grory) should pass 20 billion in 6-8 weeks.

We passed 100 billionaires in Dec 2002.

We passed 500 billionaires in July 2006.

We passed 1000 billionaires in September 2009.

We should pass 2000 billionaires by the end of 2014.

But, this is after the great Orange catastrophe of late June 2009 when many accounts were purged.

We went from ~775,000 accounts to ~120,000 accounts at that time.

We sit at just over 200,000 accounts today.

But, it was needed, and it ended up getting us to where we are today.

And that is definitely a good thing.

May all your trades make you money.

thx!..I'm sure this is what you meant, but just to clarify, I don't think Orange caused the accounts to be purged...it was a planned... tealfan Feb 18, 17:11

Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying for everyone else. {nm} KaiGee Feb 18, 17:17

Will there be more purges? MattW Feb 18, 18:34

Long long ago, there was a site re-design which had an orange colour scheme. It was so eye-wateringly bad that orange is still a code word RogerMore Feb 18, 18:47

That would be Agent Orange. {nm} RotoHockeyYTD2014 Feb 18, 18:51

I think the inactive accounts were inactive for years {nm} tealfan Feb 18, 19:25

Matt, only somebody who didn't experience the Orange Plague would ask such a question Broiler Feb 18, 20:37

Will someone care to enlighten us on the Orange Plauge? I know that was a period of a 'break' for me. {nm} funnybillypro Feb 18, 20:57

tried to Google a screenshot of Orange but no luck...Internet Archive didn't have one either...did Antibody erase it from existence? :D {nm} tealfan Feb 18, 22:41

Found this. RotoHockeyYTD2014 Feb 18, 23:06

It wasn't just a different look. A lot of social networking features were added. Some were well conceived, by most all were edzep - Port Monkey! Feb 19, 04:43

I always figured the primary qualification must have been nephew to the CEO, or something. {nm} edzep - Port Monkey! Feb 19, 05:26

Go home Orange! You're drunk! :) {nm} eyescovered Feb 19, 11:40

Remember that you could start a 'Fan Club' (precursor to today's leagues) and the manager would get money for each person that joined! {nm} RazorHawk Feb 19, 07:30

One of the better features was messaging between players. {nm} edzep - Port Monkey! Feb 19, 07:59

I loved the way TPTB said that this was the way the game was going to be, get used to and stop ****ing. How long did that last? {nm} Bubba_Fett Feb 19, 08:02

HSX was down about a week to migrate to Orange... Orange was up for about a week... then was down a week to migrate back {nm} RazorHawk Feb 19, 08:11

It seemed a lot longer. I could have sworn it was up for three or four weeks. {nm} Bubba_Fett Feb 19, 08:53
