Maybe it can't compete with a SW property, but HSX is all about the BO and I think it can certainly bank there.

It will almost certainly rebound since the news was magnified by traders jumping on the short train. 110-140M seems well within reach for this flick based on the book's popularity and the potential of a Spielberg project using the source material in my opinion.

Ready Player One is down $16 just because it moved back 3 months to avoid Rogue One??? {nm} tomcat90 Feb 09, 19:06

Yes, because it's admittance that it can't compete. {nm} Prophecy Feb 09, 19:12

By comparison it fell ~$2 on the day STAR8 moved to December {nm} RogerMore Feb 09, 19:36

Good point. I think this selloff is silly IMO. We'll see {nm} tomcat90 Feb 09, 19:51

And yet STAR8 is down fifty cents. Hmmm. . . {nm} second gary Feb 09, 20:14

That doesn't make any sense. If it's moving to a date where it'll have more play? {nm} goodvibe61 Feb 09, 20:30

Exactly. There is exactly zero shame in rescheduling an open away from a SW film. The move could actually benefit this film's profits. Willroast Feb 09, 20:36

Well I agree with you. I am sure the studio didn't make the move to lose money. Bleachigo Feb 10, 06:04

It's the best thing that could've happend to RP1. {nm} CG63 Feb 11, 17:47

People trying to make some profit. {nm} mike255 Feb 09, 19:13

although, that says more about STAR9 than RDYP1...studio hasn't even seen any RDYP! footage yet...since none shot yet {nm} tealfan Feb 09, 19:16

tomcat90 is rubbing off on me...I meant STAR8 {nm} tealfan Feb 09, 19:38

Haha, sorry Tealfan! :) {nm} tomcat90 Feb 09, 19:50

Maybe they're just giving Ben Mendelson some extra time to shoot his scenes since he's in both films. {nm} tomcat90 Feb 09, 19:26

UGH, Nevermind haha! I meant that it moved back 3 months to avoid Star Wars 8, NOT Rogue one!!! :) {nm} tomcat90 Feb 09, 19:32

For these kinds of thing I look at it as a movie too far away for people to be really focused on the opening, and more about... MattW Feb 09, 20:17

It's stupid. It's a Spielberg picture. I anticipate this film greatly. It will certainly be of high quality. And goodvibe61 Feb 09, 20:26

Hang on. . . did anything get "blown away" by STAR7? Were the performances of ALVN4, PTBRK, JOY or "Concussion" affected by STAR7? second gary Feb 09, 20:33

Yes. Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. {nm} goodvibe61 Feb 09, 21:07

I thought ALVN4 and PTBRK had a separate problem. . . i.e. they were not great. I thought JOY was taken. . . second gary Feb 10, 07:00

rising tide and all that...plus it's the holidays...your loss RDYP1? {nm} tealfan Feb 09, 21:43

I think that the competition was so limited is your answer - every other big movie got out of the way. RogerMore Feb 10, 06:41

But on your main point, yes, the drop is irrational, and clearly players playing players. Anything SSPIE does is worth looking fwd to. {nm} second gary Feb 09, 20:38

Hear Here! {nm} DiNar0 Feb 10, 09:40
