contracts are specific and likely it has to open in a certain amount of theaters/screens for a certain amount of time...
they either could not secure enough theaters/screens to fullfill the contract and have to try another date
or
they ran out of money (again) and cannot have a premiere party or press junket or talkshow tour or even produce enough copies for distribution..
They had to dump 3 Generations into theaters last month instead of giving it the big opening they had been hinting at.
