34yrs in exhibition. I know my industry and how we think pretty well.

The theatres that are closed now wouldn't be closed if it weren't for direct governmental edicts, and we'll be reopening those theatres the first moment we can. And after a few weeks of people being confined to their homes, and the curve starting to drop, there'll be a public outcry to get out of the house as quickly as possible, and outright public defiance if they're cooped up too long. Because we're Americans, damnit!

They are "waiting" on TROLLS:WORLD TOUR until the theatrical release date, if there are any theatres open by that point. {nm} notfabio Mar 16, 11:39

DL: Still Easter weekend April 10, will now go day-and-date in homes and on the big-screen. Antibody Mar 16, 11:45

It seems contingent if there are any theatres open by that point, so if they are blanket closed earlier, possibly sooner? {nm} notfabio Mar 16, 11:50

THR: Trolls World Tour will be made available on-demand at the same time they hit those theaters [TROL2] Antibody Mar 16, 11:40

The Hunt and The Invisible Man, as well as Focus Features' Emma available on-demand starting as early as Friday, March 20.. {nm} Antibody Mar 16, 11:41

Trolls World Tour will only be on-demand within the US markets however. Not going to be available for others. The_1250_Man Mar 17, 03:44

Wouldnt the OW now be pointless for this due to the fact that AMC and Regal have closed all cinemas? The_1250_Man Mar 18, 02:10

The theatres are closed will only be closed for weeks. Universal will regret this hastily decided move for years to come. {nm} EdwardHavens Mar 16, 11:44

Yep {nm} Moviesnob Mar 16, 11:46

The only other studio I can see doing this in the short term is Paramount EdwardHavens Mar 16, 11:55

I don't think Lionsgate would because it would torpedo their relationships with theatres, but Antebellum, Sprial, Run? notfabio Mar 16, 12:05

yeah but with Aronson there now i can see a real resistance. Plus they have all the Viacom money now Moviesnob Mar 16, 12:40

What makes you believe it will only be 'weeks' and not many months? {nm} RollingThunder Mar 16, 11:51

+1. I think these sorts of closures will last well into April if not all of it. ~JPV~ Mar 16, 11:59

Because of the time the virus is infectious. {nm} Catzan Mar 16, 11:59

Currently the most likely timeline based on CDC guidance would be early/Mid May and some theatres may open at limited capacity sooner. notfabio Mar 16, 12:18

Good luck with that. Seriously. {nm} ndmaster Mar 16, 13:04

Disney's less window destructive moves on STAR9 and FROZ2 was the break in the dam...I'd expect numerous home video releases to push up. notfabio Mar 16, 11:58

Frozen was already outside of the 90 day theatrical window. Star Wars was in its 85th day of theatrical release and... EdwardHavens Mar 16, 12:03

I think this website/game just became obsolete. RIP {nm} skunkrunner Mar 16, 13:09

As long as there is PINK2 there is hope! {nm} notfabio Mar 16, 13:12
