SPID2 vs SPID3 vs [IRNM2]
I think the biggest distinction is sequel vs. non-sequel. Beyond that release date and quality (reviews, word of mouth) can have some impact but not a whole lot. For example SPID2 is arguably the best superhero or indeed any SF movie ever made. Its delist multiple was 2.16 (versus 2.01 for the third movie) and its final multiple 2.44 (versus 2.23 for the third movie). SPID2's release date was Wednesday June 30 so that's a difference, but its Sunday opening weekend total was $152.4 million. almost identical to SPID3. But the original movie's multiples were a whopping 2.84 and 3.51 respectively, so a much bigger drop for both sequels.
