There's a number of factors to consider with presales
Like at Alamo, our presales were super high % of total capacity b/c we had smaller capacities and a more active customer than the chains. Especially for something like DUNE. So, we couldnt really gauge too much from presales (we looked at how fast things sold out as well). Of course, that was pre-pandemic so they could be playing DUNE in more houses than they would have pre-pandemic due to the lack of product in the marketplace.
But if he's scrapping and just trying to extrapolate ticket sales, lets see how he does. He was probably off on Bond b/c Bond is a bigger presale title than VENOM (films that over-index with ethnic audiences teld to be bigger walk up films)
