It's been there for as long as I can remember. It's a stand alone part of a huge 2 story outdoor shopping complex. It shares the upstairs half with an enormous 24 Hour Fitness, and a restaurant. During the pandemic, once the gym opened back up in early 2021, I'd start driving by the theater every day, just like before March 15, 2020. And I've watched for the last year and a half, and noted how empty the parking lot always seems to be. I swear, when i went in there a couple Fridays ago for that Vengeance screening, the place was just plain empty. It's frigging sad.
I've seen innumerable titles there over the years. My God, I've had to have seen several hundred films in there. In a different part of my life I'd roll in there on a Saturday late morning and watch at least 2 movies. Who knows; maybe I've seen a thousand in there. The last movie I saw there was Vengeance last week. I'll have to see whether i can make one more visit this week; maybe i'll roll in there for the final screening of something on thursday and be there for the shutdown.
It's tough to take. It hurts.
Other Regals in the OC shutting down include the Irvine Westpark Eight, a theater that specialized in Indies, Awards movies, limiteds, foreigns, etcetera. I've seen tons of stuff in there. Jesus.
Congrats to Net Trix for killing it off.
