As someone who used to receive tracking and spent a lot of time analyzing it...
I feel that a lot of what the trades are doing is just getting thoughts on the data from some other party, possibly not even the person writing the article, rather than analyzing the data themselves. I don't know this for a fact but I do know that at least the tracking I used to get (including for a while from Box Office Pro), you have to weigh some of the factors like a sequel getting higher awareness just by being a sequel and kids movies not really being trackable because you're dealing with an audience is not the one answering the polls for data.
Transformers really wasn't bad... on par with Bumblebee but with bigger stakes. No idea why it's tracking lightly. Jun 04, 16:08
