There was quite a bit of excitement at the theater Thursday evening. They had a pop up there, where people could purchase Prada related items (lipstick, accessories, etc.) and the line for that was literally cut off at one point; it was long, and you could see the girls had started showing up for it in the afternoon).
The film definitely works; it's a successful follow to the original; the 2 hours just flew by. And Anne Hathaway is simply fantastic pulling the story together, letting all the other charracters (Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci) flit in and out and chew the scenery. Hathaway is perfection here in what is normally the more thankless, grounded role. Great job by her, and of course each of the other actors have their moments to shine, as well as a few newcomers to the story.
It's a glossy, well executed Hollywood Entertainment. Feels like it will play all May. Interesting to see how it will do. I think plenty of females who don't normally go to the movies will be going out in groups to see this; that's clearly what we were seeing last night.
