and the "rule" worked quite well on Yogi Bear; it is really only relevant when the difference between the two trackings are significant

and it's only part of the overall model I'm using anyway, as there are many other data to take into consideration.

MTC: Fockers 63 (5 day), True Grit 28 (5 day), Gulliver's 12 (2 day) {nm} secretstalker Dec 20, 11:22

That makes a $70m+ 5-day for Fockers likely, and I really hope True Grit opens that well. Westerns always make me a bit apprehensive. {nm} Rolling_Thunder Dec 20, 11:31

I don't see your logic here. Please explain why RS (50) and MTC (60) makes 70+ likely. Thanks. {nm} Port Value League Admin Dec 20, 12:26

Historical probability based on similar films. {nm} Rolling_Thunder Dec 20, 13:26

That's a little vague and does not support your thesis. Is there any fact or information that you can provide that can support your point? {nm} Port Value League Admin Dec 20, 14:57

Yes. {nm} Rolling_Thunder Dec 20, 15:00

:) {nm} Port Value League Admin Dec 20, 15:56

I love westerns but sadly hated True Grit. Looked beautiful, but the acting had zero emotion in the delivery of lines. skamanfu Dec 20, 13:11

Well, John Wayne was hardly the emotional kind either. {nm} HarryWarden Dec 20, 16:14

Look like [MPRN3] will open close to what the previous one did; it will be more frontloaded, but should still cross $200m with ease {nm} xiayun Dec 20, 11:33

Even after NARN3 (both RS/MTC over) and TRON2 (both RS/MTC under), you're sticking by your "system"? secretstalker Dec 20, 11:46

word is that the 3rd is better than the 2nd... plus the jack-nicholson-one was soooo bad , that auds are eager for an oldfashioned DeNiro {nm} JMT Dec 20, 11:51

The "rule" worked on Tron, as MTC was significantly higher than RS; RS and MTC were identical on Narnia 3, so no rule applied there {nm} xiayun Dec 20, 11:56

MTC was 34, RS was 31... neither points to an opening over $40 million. {nm} secretstalker Dec 20, 12:01

RS was at "high-20s" from what you reported on 12th, so MTC was about 20% higher, so adding another 20% to MTC xiayun Dec 20, 12:04

Oh, you're right... TRON2 was 29 from RS... I was looking at YOGIB (which didn't come CLOSE to besting TRON2) {nm} secretstalker Dec 20, 12:07

We'll see. {nm} secretstalker Dec 20, 12:05

I've been tracking "the rule" for almost a year now and it's picked the direction of the adjust correctly 80 from about 120 wide releases RogerMore Dec 20, 12:09

look at RS / MTC rules these weeks adn21 Dec 20, 12:08

Yeah, and NARN3... when they both give the same number that means they're both wrong? secretstalker Dec 20, 12:11

not looking really good for MPRN3 notagain Dec 23, 16:27

not looking good for [MPRN3] notagain Dec 23, 16:36

no way the western will make 28 mill in 5 days ( in 50 maybe ). numbers inside JMT Dec 20, 12:11

No Country for Old Men made over 70 million, Burn After REading was one of their biggest openings ever. secretstalker Dec 20, 12:12

We'll see :) {nm} JMT Dec 20, 12:16

also, did you see the trailer ? That was boring, dark ( as in ' many darkly lit night scenes' ) and plain awfull. {nm} JMT Dec 20, 12:21

I've seen the movie and I wasn't a fan but clearly, I'm in the minority. {nm} secretstalker Dec 20, 12:23

SS... you're not alone. My thoughts are up above. {nm} skamanfu Dec 20, 13:12

the trailer with the johnny cash song "gods gonna cut you down"? that was one excellent trailer {nm} islander Dec 20, 12:26

you mean the one that's attached to the stockpage ? There's little Cash in that one. That's the one I saw and didn't like {nm} JMT Dec 20, 13:04

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not sure people will rush out to see it this weekend. {nm} lesana Dec 20, 13:06
