I keep a spreadsheet (no kidding ) and when I enter a new IPO Starbond, I usually check my work by comparing the TAG to my calculated TAG...
I do not remember a discrepancy, but it might have been corrected between the IPO and my updating my sheet.
The Obvious question is "What was the TAG at the time of the IPO?" I do not have any record of it.
On my big port I usually vote long on IPO, just as a general rule. BONDS gets stricter rules. Having said that, my personal belief is that CURRENT TAG means little. The only 2 numbers that count are CURRENT PRICE and EAP.
If the Spreadsheet one uses has bad information going in (perhaps incorrect box office total for one of the remaining movies in the TAG) then yes, GIGO says you are going to have an incorrect EAP.
Also, the possesion arrow can change, based upon box office results. In the case of SUIC2, it was overpriced on the weekend before delist, which would affect speculative EAP when it is based upon CURRENT PRICE.
20 years ago I learned the axiom "Price paid doesn''t matter" as we are only concerned with the future. Same thing with the old TAG.
