Eight years ago, OCEN2 had a huge spoiler at the end of the movie...(Spoiler) This is how it should work.

Posted by: Buy BONDS 19 (a.k.a mrbinns) on Aug 14, 18:38 in response to elchan's post Agree with Antibody on live sports. Also what you say...

AFINN was revealed to be the master plotter.  He was not billed as being in the movie, and had no attached StarBond.  Revealing his presence, even in a DVD world, spoils the ending.

It is not hard to avoid putting it in the header of the message.

As to sports, lots of people watch things on delay.  I hope we do not have to repeat this conversation in the future.

Quick story....1980, I traveled from Ketchikan Alaska to Fairbanks via Juneau and Anchorage.  There wss a Sunday night football game  (LA Rams vs Dallas) that night.  Anchorage had the game at 9PM local time, the same time as the East had MNF.  HOWEVER, since Fairbanks did not have 3 over the air stations at the time, they showed the game LIVE at 4PM local Alaska time.  So if someone were able to post (I know, it was 1980) at 7PM it would have spoiled the game for those seeing it at 9PM.

I know you may be excited and want to shout out results, but just do not ambush a casual browser.

This is direected to mike255, blaze223 and to a lesser extent elchan. There was no need to deliberately post Olympic spoiler results. Buy BONDS 19 Aug 13, 16:03

I totally agree, I stepped away from HSX so I could enjoy the games and took about 10-15 Mil hit. I was not allowed to be thin skinned damenchipguy Aug 13, 16:22

agreed {nm} RazorHawk Aug 13, 19:05

I'm trying to respect everyone's use of these forums. However, I would just like to say that this is a public place. elchan Aug 13, 20:09

some people need to be taught manners. Its a public place but rudeness to others will not be tolerated by the community. {nm} Moviesnob Aug 13, 20:49

I've not seen any rude comments from Mike255 or blaze223, as far as I know, unless you're referring to me. I hope I haven't been rude. elchan Aug 13, 22:22

You are looking at this point the wrong way, IMO. The community is asking for no spoilers islander Aug 14, 06:46

I agree with spoiler warnings on movies and TV shows, but not live sporting events. Olympic soccer and basketball games aired live. {nm} Antibody Aug 14, 11:07

But not live to view for everyone - how is that any different than tv shows not on at the same time for everyone. {nm} JDolphin Aug 14, 14:36

How about the Academy Awards - then it's live - so then it shouldn't need spoilers (although I think people should) {nm} JDolphin Aug 14, 14:38

Olympic soccer and basketball games were aired live, not tape-delayed. If you taped the Academy Awards to watch it later, then Antibody Aug 14, 15:38

You miseed the point - the Academy Awards are NOT spoiled in the headers on this forum - people were politte. As for sports - soccer was on JDolphin Aug 14, 16:23

My point is AA didn't need spoiler warning. if you don't have the cabel channel to watch the soccer, then what's being spoiled? {nm} Antibody Aug 14, 16:47

I understand the polite courtesy, but at a certain point it becomes restrctive beyond common sense. {nm} Antibody Aug 14, 16:53

My point is - if people are politte enough not to spoil AA, why can't they be polite enough not to spoil sports {nm} JDolphin Aug 15, 00:25

The AA happens once a year, so it's not overly restrictive. Sports happen everyday, so it falls under , "restrictive beyond common sense" {nm} elchan Aug 15, 11:17

OK....let's take an example that most people know..."Romeo and Juliet" . Suppose someone posts "Juliet Commits Suicide" without a spoiler BUY BONDS 19 Aug 14, 10:27

Agree with Antibody on live sports. Also what you say works find for the top level post, but not so practical for follow up comments. elchan Aug 14, 11:43

works fine for our breaking bad conversations {nm} Moviesnob Aug 14, 11:57

Just because sports (or spoiling it) is not your thing shouldn't make you any less polite not to spoil it for others {nm} JDolphin Aug 14, 14:41

How tedious. Also, EVERYTHING becomes interpretive as to what is a spoiler and what isn't. It's utterly ridiculous. {nm} goodvibe61 Aug 18, 10:30

Fine i accept all your points totally immature on my part {nm} blaze223 Aug 14, 08:21
