Hmmm... this data says that Canada has fewer murders, rapes, robberies and assaults per capita than the US
And Austrians are even more law-abiding - except when it comes to burglary.

One of the problems with crime statistics from different countries is that they are often not directly comparable. Different justice systems have different definitions and different reporting methods.
For example, the UK counts all sorts of things as violent crimes - robberies, simple assults (like a fight that doesn't reult in serious injury), all sexual offenses and so on - while the USA only counts aggravated assaults and forcible rapes. So just comparing the FBI's statistics directly with the British Crime Survey doesn't work.
