Funny thing about living in dangerous cities...
This year San Pedro Sula, Honduras was named the most dangerous city in the world. I lived there for almost a year between 2011 and 2012. My home city (San Salvador, El Salvador) is always on the list.
I've also lived in Miami, Florida for 4 months, and Barcelona, Spain for 10 months, so those are my US and European comparison points. In Canada I've only visited Calgary (my sister lives there, so spent a couple of weeks back in 2006).
I grew up in a time when my country was in civil war (peace was signed in 1992, I was 12 years old). In all my life I've been mugged once. I was probably 10 years old or so, playing football (fútbol, soccer) on the street and was mugged by some teenagers with knifes. Of course you grow a thick skin, and become less trusting when walking the streets. In this day and age kids don't play on the streets anymore, we don't even have open front yards. Gang violence is a real issue, needless to say, you should know that some of the worst US gangs originated from Central American inmigrants.
The point I'm trying to make, and going back the original point: I love QT's movies, I love gory movies, and I do not approve of any real life violence. I'm in complete disagreement of the people that say that movie or TV violence provoques real violence. There are A LOT of social problems that I can think of having a much bigger impact. Crime, wars and all that stuff has been present in EVERY moment of human history, while violent movies and TV haven't.
