As a former hockey player and a former referee, it is mind-boggling the lack of safety equipment that NHL Players use. Could be using neck guards, but don't. Could be wearing anti-concussion helmets, but don't - even the ones like Sid with multiple concussion history. Could be weaaring Kevlar socks like Selanne & most of the ANA players wear (HELLO - Karlsson in OTT). Could be wearing ankle guards, but don't. Could be using visors, but many don't.
This is the most annoying - the NHL does not enforce the chinstrap rule. Remember when Donald Brashear smacked his head on the ice - you could see his helmet bouncing up & down, offering basically no protection for his melon at all. Watch Crosby & Malkin's chinstraps. See how many times that they are done up snuggly.
