I agree with everything you said in your IM - that he nationalized resources without fair compensation, that he rigged elections and crushed opposition, had no real respect for the rule of law or the constitution which his government introduced, that he enriched a privileged class of cronies.
But -full of it as Sean Penn is - the poverty programs is how Sean Penn justifies Chavez.
