Summer Bartholomew pronounced his name like Jim Hurtsville, or the like. In his quick interview, he said hed just finished a script for a rags to riches tale in the rock-video world and hoped it would go into production during the summer. This episode had aired in April of 1985.
So i got curious.
Was this a film that actually got made? So I started googling. The name was tripping me up, but eventually I found a name that fit. Herzfeld.
A film called Tapeheads, starring John Cusack and Tim Robbins (which Ive never seen) came out in 1988. It was a rags to riches tale in the music video industry! And according to IMDB, a Jm Herzfeld got a story credit. This could be the guy!
Checking his resume, he also wrote the great Paul Walker comedy Meet the Deedles, but better yet (depending on your tastes), he wrote the first two Meet the Parents movies.
Google cant seem to confirm this is the same guy. But the clues fit. Anywho, it got me remembering how many Hollywood types got their start on game shows: from Kirstie Alley on Match Game (ok, this is the real greatest game show ever) to Aaron Paul on Price is Right (maybe this is?). I imagine its a great way for struggling talent to make a few bucks while waiting for their break.
I hope you enjoyed this non-political post today!
