How is profit/loss of a movie fund determined?

For instance, if a movie fund manager only holds one share of one security and it goes up 10% in one day, does the price of the movie fund go up 10%? Or is it calculated like a normal portfoltio where the cash is also taken into account? And if so, how much cash does a movie fund manager start with? Is it the same $2M as a standard portfolio?
