Part of HSX's research value is that it has a DIFFERENT trading mentality to Cantor...
I think it's premature to consider such a change, for these reasons:
HSX's quite unusual predictive capability is based on a method of trading that has developed over more than ten years. Part of that is the community aspect here, the 'hive mind' of shared trading insights which are based around information leading up to the OW.
In my view, a big motivation for the community to get together at certain times is the prospect of making big $$ on the adjust (and seeing who's right and who's not ;)
This is the unique element of the game and I don't think you should mess with it. You already risked the community element with the Orange experiment.
Cantor trading at the moment is all over the place and it remains to be seen what happens to the already sky-high volatility when bigger players and real bucks get into the exchange. HSX remains a reliable alternative market - although based on the same data - that, while it does have predictable reactions to market-related news, filters that through the possible OW numbers.
i.e. HSX works as a DIFFERENT INDICATOR. Since Hollywood has become all about the OW, I think it's good to have an indicator that reflects traders' expectations about the OW.
I think the predictive capability will become less reliable when HSX traders are not motivated by the prospect of earning million-dollar OW adjusts. It may be a short-term gambling aspect, but it's what really fun about the game.
IMO you should wait until we see what kind of trading patterns emerge on the real-money Cantor, which will take at least 6 months. I think it's too much of a risk to fix what isn't broken about the HSX way of trading in the meantime.
Otherwise I agree with a lot of what RazorHawk has written.
