Dustin Hoffman landed his first lead role in the 1967 Mike Nichols film The Graduate. and received an Oscar nomination. All in all, three of Hoffman's films have won the Best Picture Oscar. Although 1969's Midnight Cowboy only earned Hoffman a Best Actor nomination, the other two films -- 1979's Kramer vs. Kramer and 1988's Rain Man -- each won him the Oscar. With a penchant for socially relevant films, Hoffman has proven versatile with comedies such as Tootsie and Wag the Dog, but has also excelled in dramatic roles, with films such as Midnight Cowboy and All the President's Men.
