The comedic drama The Motel centers on Ernest Chin, a teenager who lives and works in a sleazy hourly-rate motel. Misunderstood by his family, the boy befriends a charismatic yet self-destructive Korean-American man who checks into the establishment. Fatherless, the kid quickly takes to the man who helps him with the rites of manhood. Written and directed by Michael Kang, the independent film screened at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
