The Panic Room, set in a New York Brownstone, follows the story of a thirtysomething divorced woman and her daughter who end up in a suspenseful game inside her newly bought house. The two are forced to hide in a "panic room" where one can hide from intruders, only to find themselves still fighting for their lives.
David Fincher (Fight Club) directs the film written by David Koepp. Columbia Pictures paid $2 million plus producing fees for the thriller spec which created one of the most lucrative screenwriting deals in recent memory.
Jodie Foster takes over the lead role when Nicole Kidman dropped out of the film during produciton due to an injury. Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Dwight Yoakam will play the crooks.
