Steven Seagal was born in Lansing, Michigan, in 1951. In 1971, he moved to Japan to study Buddhism and aikido. When he returned to the U.S., he set up a martial arts school in Los Angeles where he was eventually discovered. His first movie, Above the Law, established Seagal as an action hero and he was quickly cast in a string of big-budget movies. In 1998, Seagal signed a recording contract for a five-record deal.
