The French film The Class won the Palme d’Or at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The hard-hitting drama looked at one year at a junior high school in a rough Paris neighborhood. It detailed the complex relationship between teachers and students and what defines the French identity. Laurent Cantet directed the film with a script Francous Begaudeau adpated from his own book.
