Where the Heart Is follows 17-year old Novalee, a mother-to-be who is abandoned by her boyfriend on a cross-county trip. Stranded at a WalMart with just a few dollars to her name, Novalee decides to make the store her home. Natalie Portman plays the lead character, with a supporting cast that includes Ashley Judd, Stockard Channing and Joan Cusack. Based on the novel by Billie Letts, Matt Williams directs from a script by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel.
