Box Score: West Side Story falters, but still lands the top spot

Despite an exclusive theatrical window and a storied pedigree, West Side Story [WSDST] opened with an estimated $10.5 million to barely win the weekend box office. The debut is less than In The Heights which opened to $11.5 million whie premiering day-n-date on HBO Max. The musical did score an A CinemaScore from an audience that was 57% females and 52% over the age of 35.

Encanto [ENCNT] was dethroned to second place with $9.4 million for a total of $71.3 million after 3 weekends.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife [GHST4] finished third in its fourth weekend at $7.1 million, bringing its total to $112.0 million.

House of Gucci [GUCCI] took in $4.1 million to advance its total to $41.0 million after 3 weekends.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City [RESE7] grossed another $1.7 million in its third outing for a sum of $15.9 million.

National Champions [NCHMP] bombed with a disastrous $300K debut.
