Neil, you response shows a severe lack of understanding how HSX works and the history of the game.

You say you never short a security.  Right there you are losing out on half the opportunities for making a profit.  If something is overpriced why wouldn't you take advantage of that by shorting it?  The point of the game is not to show you believe in a movie, its to make fake money by accurately predicting how much it will make at the box office.  As others here have said many times, don't buy movies you like, buy movies that will make you money!

As for Grory, for a long time she was literally tens of billions of dollars ahead of the #2 player.  It took years for anyone else to come close to her.  Keep in mind that the price to buy full shares in every security in the game is less than $4 billion so the huge bulk of her portfolio is cash, no choice in the matter.  Also keep in mind there are Movie Stocks that have been active for many years and there are over 1400 Starbonds.  Its entirely plausible for her inactive port to hold a large number of securities.

Diversity.  HSX doesn't operate like a real world stock market, so diversifying isn't the same here as there.  As I write this you are holding 110 securities.  That seems like a very small number to me considering how many very low priced securities there are.  Granted that my port is worth about five times yours but I'm holding about 17 times as many securities and I'm not one of the fast moving big players.

You also write as though you are ignorant of the fact that many players are not looking at what a security will do in a year or three months.  They're looking at what will it do TODAY.  They will see news or that it is moving and jump on that.  The next day or a couple days later they will cash out, taking their profits and investing in the what's moving that day.  The same as many traders do in the real stock markets.

And by the way, Wonder Woman 2 is up a little short 20% since it IPO'd 8 days ago.  Almost $4 million in profits.  That's a pretty significant rise.  So why would someone continue to hold some other stock that isn't making as much profit when they could sell it and buy into the fast moving (and therefore fast profit generating) stock?

I have a theory... NeilSite Aug 18, 07:03

Maybe. Or it could be inadvertent. dubord.s Aug 18, 07:30

grory is a woman, fyi, and once she hit #1, she retired - her $ holdings did not disappear when she retired; she is not a manipulator {nm} daveart Aug 18, 08:45

Yep. Plus, grory has the lowest YTD gain of the top 10 traders. The suggestion that she is a manipulator is not well thought out. {nm} RogerMore Aug 18, 09:29

one more thing to consider .... i don't know specifics, but my general observation IM is, i believe still valid ... Those_left_behind Aug 19, 17:05

Thanks for your responses NeilSite Aug 23, 11:58

Thank you . {nm} blaze223 Aug 23, 12:19

Neil, you don't have to spend a lot of time here to do well at the game. DTravel Aug 23, 12:48

In the times I'd forget to check in for a year or more, I'd notice my rank went way down simply due to people passing me. {nm} arf Aug 30, 17:43

I hold every MovieStock; more than half short. I now only make a couple of trades a day. Still doing well. {nm} edzep -- Port Monkey! Aug 24, 04:52
