Playing & Trading Strategy

Thanks for your responses

Hello again & thank you to DTravel & RazorHawk for your responses!

As for blaze223 and Muroolok I am simply going to ignore your rude replies.

So, (and not to be redundant) but I guess I was not just upset (obviously) but confused as to why my strategy caused me to lose over H$2 million and for my rank to lose 100 places (so far, knock on wood, my percentile hasn't changed).

The reason why I bring it up again is because (and once more, I'm not trying to brag) my rank and percentile have ONLY ever gone up in the past 10 years...this to me means that my strategy must be doing something right. See, I initially joined HSX in '98 and folled it avidly until sometime in 2000 when I simply became too busy with college & work, etc. But admittedly, back in those days, I was playing HSX like someone who hasn't figured out the game of Monopoly would--meaning, with my small net worth I bought heavily into StarBonds that I actually liked, which after some point, weren't making as much and although I was diversified into MovieFunds & Derivatives, this didn't leave me with much money for MovieStocks.

Since re-joining in 2007 I have pretty much been on HSX every day, and I have certainly weathered through many of the changes here on HSX (such as format, loss of H$ rewards, etc.).

FYI: In the real-world I do trade commodities futures daily, namely light crude oil, gold, and soybeans. Yes, of course I short just as much as I go long, and most of my positions involve me in & out within a matter of seconds, or minutes at best. Of course, this was not my original strategy, when I started in 2000, but the strategies I use do in fact work for me because I have learned through trial and error (aka the hard way) why I lost money and applied rules that keep me from making mistakes but also focus on the goal of making money!

In conclusion, to those of you that did provide meaningful feedback--seriously, I truly appreciate the insight. In fact, from that I can tell you are on here far more than I am--in truth, I usually prefer not to spend so much time on HSX as I am here daily. I guess the overall point (going forward) is that in order to not only hold my rank & percentile but to continue rising towards the top I am going to have to adapt to some new strategies...and your insight will certainly provide me with the right ideas! I just hope I can continue to find the time...

:)

I have a theory... NeilSite Aug 18, 07:03

Maybe. Or it could be inadvertent. dubord.s Aug 18, 07:30

grory is a woman, fyi, and once she hit #1, she retired - her $ holdings did not disappear when she retired; she is not a manipulator {nm} daveart Aug 18, 08:45

Yep. Plus, grory has the lowest YTD gain of the top 10 traders. The suggestion that she is a manipulator is not well thought out. {nm} RogerMore Aug 18, 09:29

one more thing to consider .... i don't know specifics, but my general observation IM is, i believe still valid ... Those_left_behind Aug 19, 17:05

My response (to 'I have a theory...') NeilSite Aug 20, 10:21

Neil, you response shows a severe lack of understanding how HSX works and the history of the game. DTravel Aug 20, 13:05

My response... to your response... RazorHawk Aug 20, 16:03

Thank you . {nm} blaze223 Aug 23, 12:19

Neil, you don't have to spend a lot of time here to do well at the game. DTravel Aug 23, 12:48

In the times I'd forget to check in for a year or more, I'd notice my rank went way down simply due to people passing me. {nm} arf Aug 30, 17:43

I hold every MovieStock; more than half short. I now only make a couple of trades a day. Still doing well. {nm} edzep -- Port Monkey! Aug 24, 04:52
