In addition, you should casually ask someone in the movie's demographic if he has a general interest. Ask your "12 y.o. son or nephew" whether he's looking forward to seeing Tron. If he says yes and is going with 5 friends, then you know it will be a hit. If he says it seems good and he wouldn't mind, know that it will be average/soft. For example, as she did for Twilight, my 13 y.o. niece is counting off the days to see Bieber 3D w/friends on Valentine's day --uh, yep it will be huuuuge (then die a quick death but you'll make a killing on HSX by then.)
