Im confused about your first example jane_citizen
If you put in a limit order to buy 100,000 shares of stock X at 15 and it goes up to 15. Wouldn't it just buy 100,000 shares?? How would it short it??

It wouldn't short it, you would have to later manually sell and then short the stock. Apr 02, 11:31
