A few observations from Delta House concerning HPOT8, the MovieStock

Posted by: DTXbro (a.k.a SenJohnBlutarsky) on Aug 07, 15:51

(1)  It is bizarre that shares held long have remained far more numerous that shares held short throughout the relentless, predictable decline.  At the moment, long shares outnumber short shares five to one.  This appears to signal several things about traders and portfolios, none of them flattering (and none of them good for HSX).

(2)  For those holding shares short since the peak, the high price of the stock, coupled with the heretofore unrealized profit from the short gain, will produce a remarkable torrent of liquidity, concentrated among the wiser and more active traders.  My portfolio, for example, is positioned to receive nearly $60 million in cash tomorrow.  The resultant tide could create some interesting waves.

(3)  Traders should thank HSX for not (yet) imposing the commission on delisting securities.

(4)  342.99 is, as Louis Winthorpe III might observe, "looking good." Let us hope it is good enough, which likely would mean we called off the Delta House "rush the theaters" program soon enough.

(5)  Oh, boy, is this GREAT!

(6)  HSXing may not be quite so great again for some time.  With big-number movies behind us for a while, traders should probably adjust their expectations concerning returns for a while.

(7) On the other hand, the end of summer movie season signals that Freshman Orientation Weekend is nearly here.  On behalf of Delta House, thanks to all parents who sent their daughters to Catholic school or Bible camp, which experience confirms as the perfect preparation for a long weekend of introduction to Delta House.

(8)  Dorfman, I hereby appoint you rush chairman.  Go get some pledges.  I'm tired of fetching my own beers.

those who have it held long, well, "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life." {nm} Moviesnob Aug 07, 16:10

2 out of 3 is ok thought right?? {nm} sneak Aug 07, 16:19

Sure . . . for those who take cues from Dean Wormer. For everyone else, it's more "let the unacceptable traders worry about HPOT8 long"{nm} DTXbro Aug 07, 16:34

its been 4 weeks of "Thank you sir may I have another!" for them {nm} Moviesnob Aug 07, 16:45

Haha i think it speaks more as to how many inactive traders there are {nm} Dorfman Aug 07, 16:46

3000 to 6000; not that many. Probably closer to 6000, as many bought at the 50k share limit -- like IPO. {nm} edzep Aug 07, 18:09

Some people seem to secretly crave another. Did you catch the look on Chip Diller's face during his initiation? DTXbro Aug 07, 18:11

This just reminds me of how grateful I am that I never actually went to university on campus. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Aug 07, 20:16

yeah, fun, education, friendships, intellectual development, etc are WAY overrated. Plus all those coeds ... so tiring DTXbro Aug 08, 01:39

Thank you for the very thinly-veiled insult. God bless you very much. I hope you have a great day. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Aug 08, 04:47

(None of that was sarcasm, by the way.) {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Aug 08, 04:49

Harry Potter puts an exclamation point on how much International BO has been eclipsing Domestic BO faster and faster. Dorfman Aug 07, 16:20

And when HSX makes international revenues relevant to my portfolio, I will begin to care. Keep your eye on the prize, Dorfman {nm} DTXbro Aug 07, 16:31

Oh I not worrying,. Just making an observation. Gotta love the fall of HPOT8 domestic {nm} Dorfman Aug 07, 16:47

Its gonna take a lot of pledges to keep your beer hand full. lol {nm} Dorfman Aug 07, 16:51

we sstill don't pay commission? oh boy that's great! {nm} LogBomb Aug 07, 17:48

Roughly $31B H$, vaporized. Reminds of the stock market last week. {nm} banke005 Aug 07, 17:59

any advice on where we ought to invest our new-found Harry Potter cash? {nm} boomer10 Aug 07, 21:50

I have one word for you: Plastics. {nm} Paul2k Aug 07, 22:23

A donation has been made in your name to The Human Fund. {nm} second george Aug 07, 22:25
