Saw is a huge success and will continue to be

The last fim cost 10 million to make and opening weekend took in 30 million. In the end it cleared 113 worldwide.

As to the slowly and stedily declining comments: Here are opening weekend numbers for the Saw series

Saw 1 – 18 million

Saw 2 – 31 million

Saw 3 – 33 Million

Saw 4  - 31 million

Saw 5 – 30 Million

There will probably be a steep decline this weekend (could be as low as 18)  but as far as sequels go the Saw films have remained mind-blowingly consistent.

I've one seen the first SAW and it wasn't for me, but I sure do admire the way the studio has played this film. They are keeping the budgets low and are hitting it big on opening weekend (pretty much paying for the whole cost of the movie with the first days take... (not marketing)

None of the established site are actually that accurate throughout their history xiayun Oct 24, 01:18

It's nice having you here, but if all you're going to do is pimp your website or competing message boards... secretstalker Oct 24, 04:55

I'm not pimping any particular site xiayun Oct 24, 09:00

I like your posts. Good to have more folks predicting. Some people "in the biz" as well as in HSX (myself included)have blind spots, so Catzan Oct 24, 15:36

Everyone has an off week... secretstalker Oct 24, 04:58

Thhat was just to point out thatpj Oct 24, 23:55

hardly. PNACT is the hottest horror thing since Blair Witch and SAW VI is well the sixth movie in a series that hasn't been hot for years {nm} mickpix Oct 24, 00:22

So consistently opening at 25+ isn't hot? Ah to be a jaded box office "projector" again . . . {nm} thatpj Oct 24, 00:28

not when the first installments routinely broke $30 million. it's been slowly and steadily declining {nm} mickpix Oct 24, 00:31

Yeah Saw 5 ONLY opened to 30M. For Shame! thatpj Oct 24, 00:36

sequels are supposed to do *better* than the originals. see? {nm} mickpix Oct 24, 00:40

You said that the series wasn't "hot," when it clearly is. Quit digging yourself a bigger hole ; ) {nm} thatpj Oct 24, 00:43

oh, clearly {nm} mickpix Oct 24, 07:24

It is *hoped* a sequel will do better than the original. It's not always the case filmjerkcom Oct 24, 01:11

Epic smackdown. Saw has a chance to pass Jason to be the most successful horror franchise of all time. {nm} horlicks Oct 24, 04:46

Some people expected this franchise to tank two installments ago... secretstalker Oct 24, 05:02

I think they need to strike while the 3D iron is hot. bring it our next year...then some str8t to DVD company buy #8 and do it. Bleh...we Catzan Oct 24, 15:31
