We’ve got the scoop (scoop scoop scoop-ba-doop) that Jean Dujardin, star of “The Artist” (but more importantly The “OSS 117″ French James Bond movies) is interesting in joining CHEF for The Weinstein Company.
Story follows a chef who struggles to recover, personally and professionally, after his restaurant loses its 2 Michelin star rating.
The script is being re-written by Stephen Knight, taking over original writer for Michael Kalesniko.
Bradley Cooper is currently in negotiations to play the lead character, Adam Jones, while Dujardin is interested in a character called simply Reece. Whether the role is another lead or simply a supporting role is still unclear, but one can hope it’s not that cliche of arrogant French chef. Is that a cliche? I feel like it is. Moving on.
Dujardin is known (to Americans at least) for his more comedic or dare I say cartoonish roles, but this movie is decidedly a drama and would provide a more grounded role for him to take on. It would also be interesting to see if Dujardin tone down for a change.
